Opera Bistro Earns Chorus of Praise

The Opera Bistro’s Margret Begner, was recently honoured as one of three finalists for the Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s 2008 National Awards for Tourism Excellence. Begner, along with her husband Chef Axel Begner, opened Opera Bistro in Saint John’s uptown area in July of 2005. The labour of love for co-owners Thomas and Joanne Gimblett boasts a solid clientele of regulars and a steady stream of tourists, not to mention back-to-back-to-back listings in ‘Where to Eat in Canada.’
“We’re not the new guys anymore,” says Chef Thomas Gimblett. “People are starting to know who we are.”
Located at 536 Queen Street, across the street from Officer’s Square, Racines is known for its sumptuous and innovative cuisine. Lunch offerings include a variety of wraps, sandwiches, soups, salads, and flat bread pizza, while the dinner menu entices with signature dishes such as the Racines Filet Mignon, Sesame Crusted Salmon, or Lobster Rissotto.
